whose nineth season

While reading 24H Vancouver yesterday, I learned something. I learned that there is at least one professional writer - the one who wrote "Simon Cowell confirms American Idol exit" - who thinks that after eighth comes nineth. A spell check would have caught the misspelled ninth, but maybe the writer dismissed the spell check as being wrong ("Not a word? Not likely!") and left it as is.
