I wonder if the writer survived this error
Sometimes on Survivor, when the participants are speaking quietly, captions will appear for the viewers. In this case, from the episode that aired on October 30, the caption featured a misspelling of embarrassing. This isn't real-time captioning, and is therefore inexcusable. LIVE: CALGARY
-- Global BC's Noon News Hour, Wednesday May 14 2008
Correction: LIVE: CRANBROOK. Near the end of the video the error is corrected. From Calgary to Cranbrook in less than thirty seconds?! Inconceivable! This is the first video on Detected Errors.

AQUITTED

Correction: Acquitted. I believe this was their second or third story, so it's very likely that thousands of viewers would have seen this inexcusable error. But, how many of the viewers noticed the spelling mistake? That's the problem: the average viewer is prone to accept what they see on a reputable news program to be the truth. The average viewer may not need to write the word acquitted any time soon, but when they do, will they spell it without a c? Or, unlike Global, will they first do a spellcheck? Or even crack open a dictionary?

last seen
"He was last seen when leaving a voicemail on a relative's cell phone."
-- Said by an anchor on Global's Noon News Hour, Saturday March 29th 2008
Very slim chance that the anchor means that someone saw him making a phone call, so shouldn't it be, He was last heard from when... I like how they call Saturday's noon news, Noon News Hour, when it's only half an hour long.
