Correction: now a breezy 10-minute bike ride to work

16th and McDonald // ASSOCATION

-- Various advertisements on NE corner of Oak Street & West King Edward Ave in Vancouver, BC Canada, Monday June 23 2008

Corrections: 16th and Macdonald (but not really there); ASSOCIATION

If you go to 16th and Macdonald, you will not see Carnarvon Park. As you can see in the pic below (from Google Maps - notice their capitalisation error within Macdonald!), the park is actually a block west of Macdonald on 16th. It begins at Mackenzie Street and extends west past Carnarvon Street. Also, is it West Side as seen (sort of) on the above sign, or Westside as seen on this website?

Britney's double suicide attempts

-- Sympatico / MSN webpage, Saturday June 21 2008

Correction: Britney's two suicide attempts

A double suicide occurs when two people commit suicide at the same time. So writing "Britney's double suicide attempts" tells the reader that more than once Britney attempted suicide with another person. Reading the article, it is clear that the word two should replace double.

working at there // the only women

Soon, [Sharon] Dupuis was working at there full time, and during her three years at the dealership, she ranked within the province's top 10 for Toyota sales volume.
...
To hone her expertise, she participated in dealership management training through the National Automobile Dealers Association. She may have been the only women in the class of 40, but that didn't daunt her: she ended up graduating with the highets marks.
-- Auto business in her blood in 24 Hours Vancouver, Thursday June 19 2008

Corrections: working there; the only woman

I couldn't find this exact article online, but I found a similar article (Pride of ownership) in 24 Hours Ottawa. Before putting the same article in the Vancouver edition, all locations are omitted. I'm guessing it was so readers of the Vancouver edition will think it's a B.C. story. That's fine, if done correctly; but it was done very poorly and in this case resulted in misinformation.

Ottawa edition: Dupuis took part in a selling course offered through the Toronto Automobile Dealers Association and began working the sales floor on weekends at nearby Baywest Toyota in Owen Sound, Ont., which was also owned by her boss.
Soon Dupuis was working at Baywest full time, and during her three years there, she ranked within Ontario's top 10 for Toyota sales volume.

Vancouver edition: Dupuis took part in a selling course offered through the Automobile Dealers Association and began working the sales floor on weekends at another nearby dealership, which was also owned by her boss.
Soon Dupuis was working at there full time, and during her three years at the dealership, she ranked within the province's top 10 for Toyota sales volume.

-- Support for phone ban while driving in 24 Hours Vancouver, Wednesday June 18 2008

Correction: 88 per cent

Errors in subheadlines are sublime, but with 88 in the subheadline, I wonder why the only per cent given in the actual article is 71: "...the survey says 71 per cent of Canadians think a cellphone ban would make roads and highways safer for driving..." Is there another 17 per cent who think the roads and highways would become moderately safer? Hey, 24 Hours, info in the headlines and subheadlines are supposed to be elaborated on in the article itself. Do your job.

-- Official Facebook Petition: To ban the inviting of friends on Applications(group) on facebook.com, Saturday June 14 2008

Reading continuously from We the members to the end of the first request makes sense, but if one reads from We the members to the end of the second request (bypassing request one), it doesn't make sense. My request is to put the colon after the word request and to put the word that at the start of the first request. The second request can stay as-is and would then make sense!
