The word climbing is used earlier in the article - "No ban" in 24H Vancouver on January 12, 2010 - so I suppose that's the word the writer was trying for. The article is about the ban on climbing Australia's Ayers Rock (Uluru). I've climbed that rock and it was a phenomenal experience.
