This was the main item on the Vancouver Canucks homepage on February 5, 2014, and the the in front of Ryan Kesler shouldn't have been there. Click the image to enlarge it.

after being accessed a boarding penalty; the sad-sacked Maple Leafs

These errors come compliments of my friend Jason. He spotted them on Sunday on the Game Notes page of the Vancouver Canucks website. For the error above - seen in the Ones To Watch write-up of Kevin Bieksa - he writes, "Thought you might like to know that someone gained entry to Kevin Bieksa last time he played the Flames. I wonder how his wife feels about that..."

Then, for the second error - from the Ones To Watch write-up of Matt Stajan - he writes, "No wonder they're losing all the time. 'The pain, mama, the PAIN!'" Unfortunately, the page I bookmarked now features Game Notes for tonight's game. After a half-assed search for an archived page of Sunday's Game Notes, I wound up empty-handed.

Thanks, Jason!

tying teh series; One assist.

-- Game recap (May 2, 2009) on the Vancouver Canucks website

The first one is obvious - teh should be the - but the factual error is more subtle. In fact, it's not so much a factual error as an omission of fact as Henrik had a goal to go with that one assist - as can be seen in the same webpage's scoring summary.

April 15 at General Motors Place at 10 p.m.

-- Vancouver Canucks homepage on April 13, 2009

I understand the NHL's website listing all games' starting times in Eastern time, but this is the Canucks' own website. And they don't even put that it's 10 p.m. Eastern Time. Change 10 to 7 and you'd be fine - wouldn't even need to put Pacific Time.

Just as a linesman does with the two players at the end of a hockey fight, fighting and is need to be separated. What to make of slight,y? Apostrophes, not commas, are used to represent missing letters - as in don't and frickin' - but there's never a time to write slight'y instead of slightly.

The French il y a translates to there is or there are. Put those letters together to form Ilya and there is the correct spelling of Bryzgalov's first name.

After the Canucks' thrilling shootout win I went to the source to read more and the first text I read is what you see above. It acted as a sudden bringdown from the euphoria I was experiencing. Three hours later, the homepage now has the correct spelling of member, and has added the in front of the second Canucks appearance. Better late than never, but preferably correct before publishing.
