24 hours Vancouverrors

My friend, Jason, posted the above picture on the Detected Errors page on Facebook. It's from 24 hours Vancouver - a free daily newspaper - on October 24, 2011. As you can see, a professional writer wrote loose when it should have been lose, and that person did it in a very large font, indeed. Jason wrote,
You get what you pay for, and this rag they have to force upon people as they cattle call their way onto the SkyTrain. But jeez Louise, on the same page? Have some professional pride, people!
Later that day,

I saw this headline in the same paper, just five pages after the lose/loose error. The apostrophe is in the wrong spot, as womens' should be women's.

Thanks, Jason!

Emergency boning services

This is from my friend, Jason:
I was searching for heating system maintenance and maybe an estimate on replacing the old furnace - but this? This is too much! (The comedy was in the ad itself at www.bccareheating.com - only the highlight is mine.)
The offending webpage for BC Care Heating Services Ltd. is here, and as of 6 p.m. on March 29, 2011, the error is there. Click the image to enlarge it.

Thanks, Jason!

Model writing

On February 25, 2011, my friend Jason spotted another error on the NHL.com homepage. He shared it on the Detected Errors Facebook page with this commentary:
It doesn't take a headshot expert to see the NHL's web editors have brain injuries. Jesus, people, there are spell checks and dictionaries on every computer! This is your job, for crying out loud!
Thanks, Jason!

Top headline: Who's is wrong

Jason, a good friend of mine, captured this from the NHL.com homepage yesterday and shared it on the Detected Errors Facebook page with this commentary:
The NHL, despite its billions, can't hire a web editor who knows the difference between who's and whose. Way to go, NHL. Way. To. Go.
Thanks, Jason!

after being accessed a boarding penalty; the sad-sacked Maple Leafs

These errors come compliments of my friend Jason. He spotted them on Sunday on the Game Notes page of the Vancouver Canucks website. For the error above - seen in the Ones To Watch write-up of Kevin Bieksa - he writes, "Thought you might like to know that someone gained entry to Kevin Bieksa last time he played the Flames. I wonder how his wife feels about that..."

Then, for the second error - from the Ones To Watch write-up of Matt Stajan - he writes, "No wonder they're losing all the time. 'The pain, mama, the PAIN!'" Unfortunately, the page I bookmarked now features Game Notes for tonight's game. After a half-assed search for an archived page of Sunday's Game Notes, I wound up empty-handed.

Thanks, Jason!

HEALTHY VEGETARIAN: Meat Balls, Steamed Pork, Stir-Fry Pork

My friend Jason - while eating out in Vancouver recently - snapped the above photo and sent it to me. In the email, he wrote: "Meat balls, pork, chicken. Not one of the dishes on this page of the BBT Cafe menu are vegetarian." Thanks, Jason!

mexican chips

This submission comes from my friend Jason, on behalf of his wife and Latin America. Thanks!

-- Save-On-Foods at Cambie Street & West 7th Avenue in Vancouver, BC, Canada, Saturday July 12 2008

Correction: Mexican chips

I don't know if all their signs are designed in such a manner, but I would have aligned potato chips with the rest of the text.
