The first thing that caught my eye was the incorrect spelling of Hayes, while the article itself had it correct as Heyes. Then I noticed the comma at the end of the quote; usually the quote - when separated from the article in this fashion - simply ends with the closing quotation mark. Placing a comma there makes no sense. Please, a period or nothing at all.

Pleas for very a special lobster

I can't decide if the lobster is actually rather ordinary and not deserving of proper English, or if the lobster is so extraordinarily special that the writers can't even get their words in the right order because all they want to do is look at photos and videos of the lobster and try to book an immediate flight out to see the lobster in person.

I believe the writer was attempting to type the word second, but, based on the word (or, more accurately, the sequence of letters) actually written, second isn't even the first word suggestion.

Idol winners' cringe-worthy gig; Oscar Meyer Wieners

Signing out of Yahoo! Canada is always an exciting time. 'What will Yahoo! Canada's homepage's errors be this time? Will I have enough will and determination to post them all? When will my legs feel okay after doing the Grouse Grind this morning?' Before leaving to do the Grind, I captured the above image. In the purple box on the right side, the text says, "Winner forced to sing jingles" (note the singular winner), while under the main photo the text says "Idol winners' cringe-worthy gig". The singular has become plural, as the apostrophe should have gone *before* the S for it to remain singular. Right below that, however, it's back to singular with "Host forces star" and not stars. The photo is of just one individual - and two out of three times the text was singular - so I am pretty sure it is supposed to be singular, but just to be safe I click the link to be 100% sure.

Yup, one single winner: Kris Allen. However, the Yahoo! Canada Music article, "Kris Allen's Commercial Appeal, Alexa Chung's Commercial Flop" - which includes an embedded video of the gig - has its very own error. As the commercial jingle makes clear, the bologna's second name is M-A-Y-E-R.

lighting-struck son

The title of this video - seen today on Sympatico/MSN News - had me thinking that someone had been the victim of a falling chandelier or some similar unfortunate circumstance. But no, as you can see from the paused-video image, someone was struck by lightning, not lighting. It was a 5-year-old boy and I hope he fully recovers.

My with? I didn't know I even had a with. It's no doubt supposed to be you're, which is a contraction for you are. That headline error should have been caught by either a proofreader or an editor.

The Time Travelers' Wife

The book was awesome and I'm hoping the movie -which hits theatres here tomorrow - does it justice. However, it's not a book about the shared wife of two or more time travelers, as The Time Travelers' Wife suggests. There is just one time traveler and the correct title is The Time Traveler's Wife. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to do some sweeping.

It's been two and a half months since I last saw Vancouver 24 hours with a full frontal advertisement (note the proper spelling), and again the middle E is absent.

Talylor Lautner; at the YVR; back in town Tuesday night; arrived Monday night; Tyler Lautner

The problems began on the Vancouver 24 hours homepage this morning, where Taylor Lautner's first name gained an L. Also, YVR (Vancouver International Airport) shouldn't have a the in front of it. While my wife has read the entire Twilight series several times over, I am not a fan. I'm not anti-Twilight, I just don't care for it. Anyway, despite my non-interest, I clicked "Full Story" to see if Talylor was just the tip of the iceberg. Was it ever.

Okay, so the actors who portray Edward and Bella arrived Tuesday night. Since there's nothing wrong here (except for the use of "back door" in close proximity to Pattinson and Stewart when talk of their possible relationship has been all over the internet), let's move on.

The online article got by unscathed, but the photo caption suffered. Lautner's first name still has that extra L inserted - he should get that looked at. Again, please no the in front of YVR; spotted at YVR this week is far better (and actually correct). And that was that, until I saw the print edition of the same article.

Say what? Monday night? But 24 hours, your very own online article stated - and still states - that the actors arrived on Tuesday night. Your credibility is waning, but hey, at least you jettisoned "back door" in favor of just another door.

Uh oh, problems with Lautner's first name in the print edition's photo caption as well. What should have been a quick fix - removing the extra L from Talylor - went horribly wrong. From Taylor to Talylor to Tyler. Why stick with T names? Riley Lautner has a nice ring to it.

Bobo's is now suing Usher

It's either Bobo Plumbing or Bobo's Plumbing - it can't be both. If it's the former, as first stated in the blurb, then the second sentence should begin Bobo is now suing Usher. If it's the latter, then the apostrophe and S are missing from the first Bobo.
