Yahooooooooooo! October 2013

The year was 2013 and the month was October and the errors on the Yahoo! Canada homepage were plentiful. First, on October 9 what was drooping should have been dropping. Then,

on October 10 I knew something was wrong here - because it made no sense - but I had to click to the article to determine the error: at should have been act. Then,

on October 13 there was this bit of nonsense. The Flames are not what? They're not suck? Perhaps and they don't would've been better, eh? Then,

on October 19 I read this and subsequently clicked the link and watched the video. [The article: "News Anchor Has Makeup Malfunction" on Yahoo! Canada News on October 18, 2013] Her right eye was fine; her left eye was where the problem occurred. Plus, (actually Taiwan)

this is the entire article/description below the video. The news anchor is in Taiwan, and one can clearly hear that in the video. Then,

also on October 19 there was confusion regarding Maru's last name: Oropesa or Orepesa? Then,

on October 21 I wasn't surprised to see another misspelling. It's another nonword on your homepage, Yahoo! - are you proud? Then,

on October 25 yet another nonword appeared on the Yahoo! Canada homepage - plauged should have been plagued. Also, because it's the Canadian Yahoo!, rumors should have been rumours. Then,

on October 28 it should have been in. Then,

on October 29 there was another nonword because harassed had one too many Rs. Finally,

Dancle in the wind

At the start of the don't section of this article ("The Health Dos and Don'ts of Halloween Costumes" on Yahoo! Canada Shine on October 25, 2013), if you can get past the disagreement of the singular a paired with the plural jack-o-lanterns - get rid of the a, eh! - then you'll be treated to the wonder that is dancles. Dancles! DANCLES! I love dancles so much. Then,

A couple of open and shut cases

I read Andre Agassi's Open and I liked it. However, there were a couple of errors.

1. On page 338: "... when a team of landscapers arrive." The subject is team, not landscapers, so arrive should be arrives.
2. On page 357: "Ladies and gentleman, I introduce you to the greatest person I have ever known." This error is more obvious than the previous one - gentleman should be gentlemen.

Yahooooo! June 2013

Symptoms should have been symptom, and I don't really know what "He could even grow beard" means. Even if it was even grow a beard, I'd still be confused. A man could even grow a beard?? What??? That's crazy!! That was on the Yahoo! Canada homepage on June 6. Let's see what other errors Yahoo! presented to its readers during June 2013. Next up,

on June 8 there was a nonword: targetting. The correct spelling is targeting. Then,

on June 14 there was a misspelling of homosexuality. It was also misspelled in the article's headline before it was eventually corrected - the evidence is in the article's web address. Then,

on June 20 there was an obvious misspelling of and. Obvious, that is, to anyone who doesn't work at Yahoo!. Lastly,

CBC British Columbia homepagerrors - May 2013

Here are the errors from the CBC British Columbia homepage during May 2013. For the first 19 days no errors were detected, but on May 20 prevents shouldn't have had that S. Then,

on May 22 there must've been three cars involved in this crash, right? It's a confusing way for the writer to have worded it, but what else could another other car mean? Then,

on May 29 identity should have been identify, and - you may want to be seated when I tell you this - kittens are cats. Shocking, I know. That CBC homepage sentence is also the first sentence of the linked-to article ("Tortured cat videos earn B.C. man 17-month sentence" on CBC News online on May 29, 2013), and later in the article,

there was a doubling up of man. Then,

also on May 29, it's clear that no spell check was used in the making of this sentence, because the misspelled avenue would have been fixed. Click an image to enlarge it.

MSN Canada homepagerrors - April & May 2013

Here are a handful of errors from the MSN Canada homepage during April and May 2013. First up, on April 22 there was only one Ferrari owner, so attack should have been attacks. Then,

on April 28 to should have been too. Then,

on May 14 who's should have been whose. Then,

Yahoooooooo! March 2013

What do we want? Errors! When do we want them? Now! Okay. Here are the errors that were detected on the Yahoo! Canada homepage during March 2013. First, on March 11 it was Topanga on the left (correct!) but Toganga on the right (incorrect!). Then,

on March 22 violet should have been violent. Here's the proof! Then,

again on March 22, what Yahoo! states is "a single typo" is the writing of Harper Canada instead of Harper Government. That's no typo. (Article.) Then,

on March 23 Yahoo! declares that an executive died for a boozy mishap. The truth is that the writer foolishly believes that getting deported is the ultimate price one could ever pay. Then,

again on March 23, John Mayer's last name was wrong. Then,

on March 27 takes should have been talks. (Article.) Then,

again on March 27, it's a contingent so it should have been has been operating. Then,

after clicking to the article ("Canadian fighter jets guarding Iceland’s skies as part of unusual agreement" on Yahoo! Canada News on March 27, 2013), the disagreement issue is correct, but Keflavik Air Bace should be Keflavik Air Base. That's it for that! Click an image to enlarge it.

Yahooooooo! February 2013

Now that March is here, let's look back at February and the errors bestowed upon readers by the people in charge of the Yahoo! Canada homepage. First, on February 1 there was a misspelling of Nicolas Cage's first name. After clicking the link,

readers saw the above headline ("Newly-released photos of Nicolas Cage as Superman emerge" on Yahoo! Canada Movies on January 30, 2013) with the correct spelling of Cage's first name but now there's a hyphen between newly and released. There shouldn't be a hyphen there. Then,

on February 2 there was a misspelling of wildlife. Then,

on February 3 I wasn't sure what message the writer was attempting to get across to readers. Then,

on February 22 it should've been either officers fall or officer falls. After clicking the link,

the headline ("Newfoundland wildlife officers falls through ice, presumed drowned: RCMP" on Yahoo Canada News on February 22, 2013) was revealed to be the same. Then,

on February 27 on should have been one. Then,

also on February 27, coverage was missing its R. Finally,

Mind your ths and rds

This is posted where I work. How would you pronounce December 3th? Would it be December thirth? December threeth? Reminds me of the 2rd floor post. Is it the 18th annual or the 16th annual? Also, is the event REALTORS® CareBlanket Drive or is it REALTORS Care® Blanket Drive? October 2012 was a light month for errors I detected on the Yahoo! Canada homepage. First, on October 1, apologizes was missing its Z. Then,

on October 9, Ben Affleck surely knocked off the side mirror and not the rear-view mirror which is found inside cars. Then,

on October 10, Hall of Fame should not have hyphens. But even worse, the writer shouldn't have written that Bill Parcells is a Hall of Fame coach. Why not? Because he isn't. Then,
