To C or not to C

Considering Nicklas Lidstrom wears a C as the captain of the Detroit Red Wings, it's funny to me that this writer (of "Canucks look to keep fire burning against Flames" in 24 hours Vancouver on January 5, 2011) dropped the C from his first name.
